IT'S SUCH GOOD NEWS

It's such good news!

1 Therefore, since God in his mercy has given us this new way, we never give up. 2 We reject all shameful deeds and underhanded methods. We don’t try to trick anyone or distort the word of God. We tell the truth before God, and all who are honest know this. 3 If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing. 4 Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. 5 You see, we don’t go around preaching about ourselves. We preach that Jesus Christ is Lord, and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. - 2 Corinthians 4:1-6

Is the Old Testament law something to be considered / proposition?

Is it either you comply with every ounce of the law, or your cursed?

Do we have a right to pick and choose from the law - from the Old Testament / New Testament?

Have we been awarded the luxury of mixing a portion of the law with Christ?

Often when I’m feeling confused and distant from God, it’s because I’ve picked, I’ve chosen, I’ve twisted the law & mixed it with my relationship with Christ. By doing so I then measured myself and come up short. The new law, the new covenant, the new testament is good news!
Why?
It's not meant to be burdensome.
“Since God in his mercy has given us this new way, we never give up!” 2 Corinthians 4:1
It’s centered around developing a genuine personal growing relationship with Jesus cultivated, nurtured, and brought to life through Jesus commands (1 John 3:24).  God’s commandments are to love Him and to love each other (Matthew 22:36-40).

The “new” is not just a modified versions of the old.  Thank God!  The New is good & it’s up to us to keep it GOOD & not just a dressed up version of the Old.

The new is different, the new is simple, the new is organic, the new is relational, the new allows us to breathe and have hope! Now that’s GOOD NEWS!

God’s purpose in sending His Son was NOT to condemn us - the Law already did that! God’s purpose in sending His Son was to save us from condemnation (personal & eternal) through the work Jesus fulfilled on the Cross.
My Personal Application
Jesus doesn’t express disapproval.
Jesus doesn’t find us guilty of not upholding the law.
Jesus doesn’t sentence anyone to a particular punishment.
Jesus doesn’t declare us to be unfit.
Post cross - the law is fulfilled by Jesus work.
Post cross - we experience FREEDOM & GRACE
